    The Job:

    We are currently looking for a Proposal Writer who is able to work independently yet collaboratively to join our architecture and interior design firm. This person will be a resourceful self-starter who has an eye for design aesthetics, is detail-oriented and is effective at balancing multiple priorities and deadlines. We offer a cooperative and positive work environment, a competitive level of remuneration, job security and benefits for a dynamic and motivated individual interested in becoming a key member of our team. This role will have a salary range of $65,000 - $70,000.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Directly contribute and assist with preparation, coordination and development of architectural proposals under the direction of the senior architectural team
    • Organizing, updating and archiving proposal resource libraries and documentation
    • Creation and sourcing of images, charts, and other graphics for proposal use
    • Accurate tracking of completed proposals for conversion analytics and follow-up
    • Updating of brochures, PowerPoint presentations and other marketing collateral
    • Contribution to technical content for digital marketing platforms
    • Assist with yearly award submissions
    • Website management
    • Special projects as assigned by the Principals

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading skills
    • Demonstrated written and verbal English communication skills with an aptitude for understanding technical terminology
    • Exceptional organizational and self-directed time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under tight deadlines
    • A meticulous eye for detail and design aesthetics
    • Resourceful and proactive in taking on assignments and responsibilities
    • Ability to work in a team environment, working towards common goals and objectives
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Familiar with using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat) or similar design programs
    • Graphic design capabilities are considered an asset

    Required Training and Experience:

    Post-secondary education in English, marketing, communication, journalism or another related field.

    Job Type:

    The Role

    As a Business Development Representative, you will:

    • Grow our pipeline
    • Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities through outreach, networking, industry events, and referrals.
    • Build relationships
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with architects, engineers, developers, contractors, and public sector clients.
    • Drive opportunities through the sales cycle
    • Qualify leads, shape opportunities, support proposal strategy, and help convert pursuits into wins.
    • Strengthen existing accounts
    • Stay close to key clients, identify repeat opportunities, and expand our presence within existing relationships.
    • Support market expansion
    • Identify emerging sectors and clients where our expertise can add value.
    • Collaborate internally
    • Partner with Principals, Associates, and the Proposal Team to align client needs with our technical solutions and positioning.

    You will report to the Principal & VP of Sales and Marketing, with exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to grow your impact over time.

    What You Bring

    Must-haves

    • ~5 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within AEC, consulting engineering, or a related industry
    • Proven ability to build relationships and contribute to winning new work (RFPs, proposals, or direct awards)
    • Strong understanding of consultative / relationship-based sales cycles (not purely transactional sales)
    • Comfort with prospecting and outreach (calls, emails, LinkedIn, events) combined with account development
    • Ability to manage a pipeline and stay organized across multiple opportunities
    • Strong communication skills—you can engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

    Nice-to-haves

    • Existing network within architecture, construction, engineering, development, or infrastructure sectors
    • Experience working with proposal teams and formal procurement processes (RFP/RFQ)
    • Familiarity with CRM tools and pipeline tracking
    • Exposure to technical consulting services (acoustics, environmental, engineering, etc.)

    Role Overview:

    The Proposal & Marketing Lead drives proposal development, pursuit coordination, and marketing content for our industrial engineering and project management services across Western Canada. This role blends strategy and hands‑on execution, working closely with engineers, project managers, and leadership to strengthen our market presence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the full proposal lifecycle from kickoff to submission
    • Determine response level (fee letter, qualifications package, full proposal)
    • Translate technical inputs into clear, client focused content
    • Coordinate pursuit strategy with Business Development and Operations
    • Manage timelines, compliance, and submission quality
    • Maintain proposal templates, boilerplate, resumes, and project profiles
    • Lead marketing initiatives including website upkeep, social media, etc.
    • Organize and maintain digital marketing assets (project portfolio, CV databases, etc.)
    • Conduct market, client, and competitor research to support pursuit strategy

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience in proposals and marketing development in professional services or construction, with strong preference to engineering.
    • Strong technical and business writing skills
    • Experience collaborating with technical teams
    • Understanding of scope development and WBS based structuring
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
    • Graphic design and material content creation skills are a strong asset
